BURAN THEATRE....................presents.....................
THE SUICIDE SONG
By Adam Burnett & Mars Mraz
with music by Christopher Luxem
A workshop production
Vortex Theatre - Albuquerque, NM
April 30, 2011 - 2:30 pm
Directed by Summer Olsson
"The end of the world had come and gone and all that was left was a frame."
Sherman Lean creates soul-crushing melodies through mathematical formulas via his popular blogsite, but when he creates a song that prompts suicide on the part of its listeners, Sherman's world changes irrevocably. Based on the Hungarian suicide song mythologies, this dramatized musical piece confronts the responsibility of the artist in our ever changing cultural horizon.
Featuring Amelia Ampuero as Aunt Lea, Paul Ford as Lazlo, Abe Jallad as Stage Movements, Adam Burnett as Sherman Lean, and Erin Phillips Mraz as Becca Lean

A CHRONICLE OF WASTED TIME
By Adam Burnett
A public demonstration
April 11, 7:30 pm
Dixon Place, NYC
Directed by Theresa Buchheister
Suadades: A Portuguese word, the longing for something that will never be and never was.
Poshlost: An untranslateable Russian word, which best is rendered as fake significance and banality.
In this highly stylistic dark comedy, inspired by Chekhov’s droll Russian characters, playwright Adam Burnett takes on the institution of nostalgia and melancholia with an absurdist assault.
Mona has been stuck in her sentimental reveries since the Immaculate Conception of her daughter, but is forced to confront the realities of the now when her estranged son returns from the circus/the war/the penitentiary to rescue his one true love…his sister.
Featuring: Sarah Graalman as Mona, Becca Barnet as Leticia, Adam Burnett as Randolph, Brady Blevins as Dr; Bernard, Erik LaPointe as Cesar, and Theresa Buchheister as The Postman
